Household income counts every earner and every income source in a home, so it is much higher than the typical individual wage. In the Census Bureau’s 2024 American Community Survey, U.S. median household income was $81,604, median family income $101,265 and per-capita income $45,256. Median household income is highest in District of Columbia ($109,707) and lowest in Mississippi ($59,127).
