Nature of this site
StateSalary is an informational reference that summarizes public federal statistics. It is produced independently and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorized to speak for the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the U.S. Census Bureau, the IRS, the Social Security Administration or any other government agency.
Not advice
Wage figures describe reported pay in a specific statistical release. They do not describe what you will be paid or what a role is worth in a particular labor market. Do not use the site as the sole input to a salary negotiation, job offer, relocation, lawsuit or visa application.
Take-home pay estimates
The take-home pay calculator is a simplified estimate based on 2026 federal parameters. It omits credits, itemized deductions, local taxes and many payroll deductions, and uses a state rate you supply. Your actual paycheck and tax liability will differ.
Data accuracy and limitations
- Some occupation-by-state combinations are not published by BLS; we show an em dash rather than estimating.
- OEWS counts wage and salary workers only, not the self-employed.
- “Mean” and “median” answer different questions — see the methodology.
- Figures are replaced when a new release is processed; prior vintages are not retained on the site.
